Clegg Gifford Wakefield Office – Office Fit Out

From Derelict Building to Functional Office

Client: Clegg Gifford
Site: 1 Hall Street, Wakefield
Project Manager: Tony Curtis, Northern Supervisor

Project Overview

Located in Wakefield, this large-scale office renovation involved the refurbishment of an outdated commercial workspace.

Presence & Co. were appointed to improve the condition, functionality and safety of the premises through a comprehensive programme of internal works and fire safety improvements.

The project included new flooring throughout the building, the installation of stud internal walls and partitions, and essential works following a failed fire risk assessment.

Through careful planning and coordination, the renovation delivered a modernised workspace that addressed key safety concerns and met the client’s expectations.

Our Role

Presence & Co. managed and delivered the renovation, overseeing the works from start to finish. Our responsibilities included:

  • Complete internal office renovation.
  • Installation of new flooring throughout the premises.
  • Installation of new walls and internal partitions.
  • Significant fire safety improvements throughout the building.
  • Coordination of trades, contractors and project scheduling.
  • Oversight of internal upgrades and improvements.
  • Quality control throughout the project.
  • Final finishing works and project completion.

Given the scale of the renovation, effective project management and communication were essential to coordinating the various elements of the project and delivering a consistent, high-quality finish while addressing the building’s fire safety requirements.

The Challenge

The size and condition of the existing premises presented several challenges, making this a significant commercial renovation project.

  • Fire safety compliance: The building had previously failed its fire risk assessment, meaning works were required to address the identified issues and meet the applicable fire safety requirements.
  • Coordination of multiple workstreams: Fire safety improvements needed to be carefully managed alongside the wider renovation, including new flooring, internal partitions and other upgrades.
  • Maintaining quality throughout: Careful planning and oversight were essential to ensure the works were coordinated effectively and completed to a high standard.

The Result

The project transformed the building into a modern, practical office space for Clegg Gifford. The refurbishment improved the overall condition of the premises, creating a more professional environment for staff while ensuring the required fire safety works were completed. The result is a safer, more functional workspace that is ready for everyday use.
