The project involved the construction of a new office space within an existing workshop, enhancing operational efficiency while maintaining full compliance with fire and safety regulations. The works were scheduled to take 20 days on site, with all activities planned and managed meticulously to ensure minimal disruption to the client’s operations.
Scope of Works
The office build was designed with both safety and functionality in mind:
- Structural framework: 4×2 CLS timber construction with 12.5mm fireboard and acoustic insulation.
- Fire safety compliance: FD30 glazed fire door with FD30 frame, smoke seals, door closure, and a window constructed with an FD30 frame and 30-minute fire-rated glass.
- Ceiling construction: 8×2 timbers with 12.5mm fireboard, insulated with 8×4 12mm plywood sheet to accommodate HVAC systems.
- Internal fit-out: New workstation installed in front of the window, with all electrics installed as per design drawings and fully tested to ensure compliance and safety.
Health, Safety and Compliance
Presence & Co. prioritises health and safety on all projects. This office build followed a robust HSE framework:
- Asbestos checks were completed, and no asbestos was detected on site.
- A dedicated on-site first aider was present throughout the project, and emergency contacts were clearly displayed.
- Risk assessments and method statements were signed by all employees before work commenced, ensuring that every stage complied with current legislation.
- Safety signage, PPE, and H&S Law Posters were displayed in accordance with regulations.
Project Outcome
The Auto Windscreens office build was completed efficiently and to the highest standards. The new office provides a safe, functional, and comfortable space that enhances the day-to-day operations of the workshop.
